Ludwigia arcuata is one of the most decorative plants for aquariums. In the author’s personal opinion, L. arcuata is the most beautiful aquarium plant.  It is relatively easy to grow and has a wide range of colours and leaf shape.  As with most aquarium plants, addition of CO2 will greatly improve the growth, but is not necessary for this species.  Ideal (although not necessary) conditions include higher light, slighty acidic water, and CO2/nutrient supplementation. It looks best when planted in a group and allowed to become a dense thicket, although pruning is still required.  The red color of healthy leaves and stems contrasts well against species like Rotala ssp ‘Nanjenshan’.  The leaf-span of this plant is usually 3 cm.  This plant is not difficult and will provide beauty to all tanks it inhabits.
