Alternanthera reineckii `Needle Leaf` is almost certainly not a true member of the genus Alternanthera. We bought this species as Alternanthera reineckii, but as soon as we began growing it, it was very obviously a different species entirely. We have not been able to produce flowers from it, which would allow us to make a positive identification. However, it is an easy to grow plant, and we recommend it for beginners and advanced hobbyists. The growing tips are usually pink, and older leaves and stems are a nice light green.
